This is our third year purchasing gesha coffee from the famed Cafe de Altura mill in Costa Rica. Esteban Villalobos Corrales runs the mill and is in charge of the processing of coffees. He carefully monitors many parameters as the coffee ferments in specialized tanks and dries in static dryers. The result is a cup profile that is world renowned and attempted by many other producers, but never fully replicated. This particular gesha comes from Roberto Leiva's farm, La Florida, in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica. The farm is situated at 2000masl and also produces various fruit. This coffee was processed as an anaerobic natural. which results in a coffee that has the florality of a gesha, but with spice attributes coming from the processing method. It requires immense skill from the farmer and the mill to produce a coffee that showcases both variety and processing method, but Esteban and Roberto have achieved it and we are really excited to share this coffee!
