Reaching Extraordinary Heights

More than two decades ago, Don Carlos and his daughter Mariana Iturralde set out to prove something many believed wasn't possible: that world-class coffee could be grown in the high mountains of Bolivia.

Today, Finca Takesi is recognised as one of the world's most celebrated coffee farms. Now under Mariana's leadership, the farm has become known for coffees with remarkable sweetness, clarity, and complexity, attracting the attention of specialty roasters and high-level competition baristas around the world.

We've been fortunate to know Mariana and the Iturralde family for the past eight years. What began through a shared passion for exceptional coffee has grown into one of our closest producer relationships, and every visit to Takesi has only deepened our appreciation for the work, care, and persistence behind every harvest.

Pushing the Limits

Takesi isn't just famous because it's one of the highest coffee farms in the world, it's famous because of what that environment makes possible.

The farm's unique microclimate combines rich volcanic soils with cool temperatures, abundant sunshine, and consistent rainfall to create extraordinary growing conditions. At Takesi's elevation, coffee cherries mature far more slowly than they do at most farms, giving them more time to develop the sweetness, vibrant acidity, and complexity that have become the farm's signature.

That doesn't happen by chance: growing coffee in such an extreme environment requires constant observation, experimentation, and patience. Over the past 20 years, the Iturralde family have explored which varieties thrive at Takesi and how each harvest can be refined, continually pushing the quality of their coffee even further.

A Partnership Built Over Time

Ben has visited Finca Takesi many times over the past 8 years, getting to know Mariana, her family, and the incredible work that goes into every harvest. Those trips have become about much more than selecting coffees. They've been opportunities to walk the farm together, taste each new harvest side by side, exchange ideas, and continue building a relationship rooted in trust and a shared commitment to quality.

Those experiences have shaped the way we think about Takesi. Every harvest tells a slightly different story, and seeing that firsthand has made these coffees some of the most rewarding for us to roast and share. They're coffees we return to year after year, not only because of how they taste, but because of the people behind them.

Today, we're proud to be Finca Takesi's exclusive Canadian roasting partner, bringing Mariana's coffees to Canada and continuing a relationship that has grown stronger with every harvest.

The 2026 Collection

This year's collection is a celebration of that relationship.

Working closely with Mariana, we've brought together a selection of coffees that reflects years of experimentation, careful farming, and an unwavering pursuit of quality. Each coffee offers a different perspective on Finca Takesi while carrying the unmistakable character that has made the farm so respected around the world.

We're incredibly proud to share these coffees with you, and grateful to Mariana and the Iturralde family for their friendship, trust, and years of strong partnership We hope this collection gives you a chance not only to experience some remarkable coffees, but to get to know the people and place behind them.
