Daniel Mijane's coffee is a standout from the lush Gedeb Zone of Ethiopia, where his Halo Hartume washing station operates at an altitude of over 2000 meters. Working with more than 400 smallholder producers, Daniel has curated an exceptional coffee that reflects the unique high-elevation terroir and the expertise passed down through his family. This is our fourth year sourcing from Daniel, and his dedication to quality shines through in every cup, making it a cornerstone of our offerings.
What makes Daniel's coffee even more special is the use of three specific cultivars: 74110, 74112, and Kurume. While many Ethiopian coffees are often generalized as "heirloom," Daniel's selection honours the diversity and history of Ethiopian coffee cultivation. The 74110 and 74112 varieties, developed for their resistance to Coffee Berry Disease, were selected from the wild forests of Illubabor and have become staples in the region. Kurume, an indigenous landrace from the Gedeo region, adds a layer of complexity to this coffee, with its small, densely packed fruit that mirrors the other two varieties.
In the cup, this natural-processed coffee bursts with vibrant flavours of peach, melon, and strawberry. The care Daniel puts into each harvest is evident in the depth and balance of these flavours, creating a coffee that’s as bright and lively as it is smooth and refined. Perfect for those who appreciate a complex and fruit-forward profile, Daniel Mijane's coffee is a true representation of Ethiopian coffee at its finest.
